Hotels and Motels to stay at

To give hotel recommendations is hard since the priorities on accommodations between visitors varies greatly; some may want a bunk and a shower as close to the boat as possible while others are making it a family vacation and need a place where the kids can play on the beach and in the pool during the day. To add to the complexity is seasonal rates, during the off season the hotels at the beach may fit almost any budget while during high season someone on an economy budget may need to get a room some 10 miles or more from the beach.

We offer three approaches to find a place to stay that fits your requirements:

  1. Close to the boat, also includes some beach places.
  2. At the beach in Pensacola Beach.
  3. In Pensacola business district.

Why are we not pointing out any downtown hotels? Pensacola is an old town and while that is charming there seems to be a lack of modern hotels downtown. On top of that the only report we have heard is about one of the hotels and it was not clean. So, we are staying out of pointing any of you there.

Based on the uncertainty of prices and availability a travel web site is the best tool to get the final details. We point you to some general areas below and last in each section there is a link to Expedia that provides the hotels in that area. You just enter your dates in the left hand form and you get all the current details.

Close to the boat

The boat is docked at Perdido pass so the closest hotels are at the beach. During season this makes them rather costly but during off season there are deals to be had. On the beach and closest are Perdido Beach Resort (1.9mi), Sleep Inn Gulf Front Resort (2.9mi), and Hilton Garden Inn (5.6mi). A little further and inland are Microtel Gulf Shores (7.7mi), Courtyard Marriott (7.8mi) and Comfort Inn (7.8mi). All these hotels are in Gulf Shores or Orange Beach, Alabama. The Florida side of Perdido Key is under reconstruction from the hurricanes.

At Pensacola Beach

This is the beach area outside Pensacola, this is where they have the white sand beaches etc. There are quite a few places to stay, eat and do activities here so if you are looking for a beach vacation this is the place. However, it is both a drive to Pensacola it self and to where the boat is docked. Pensacola beach is on the East side of Pensacola pass and the boat is docked at Perdido pass which is the next pass West ward along the Gulf coast and you can not drive over Pensacola pass (no bridge), you have to drive across the bay and around the Naval Station. Hampton Inn, Comfort Inn, and Best Western Resort are all within walking distance of each other and all other things you need. Also check out Bay Beach Inn in Gulf Breeze which is the island between Pensacola and Pensacola Beach, its a good compromise of location and price and they have a nice water front pool area facing the sunset. This is also the place for those that need their Star Bucks in the morning since the only Start Bucks out side the airport is located within walking distance.

Pensacola business district

The area is actually called Warrington and is the area between downtown and the naval Air Station (NAS). It has quite a few hotels that are manly catering towards the traveling business professionals visiting NAS. Since this is not tourist driving hotels the availability and pricing does not follow seasons. It is worth checking out and certainly if the tourist places seem to be booked.
